happy birthday, hiba!

hiba turned four last this past monday. i cannot believe that she has gone from this

to this.

amazing. she sure is growing up fast!

and, much to my delight, she loves her birthday almost as much as i love mine. i am doing my best to force the love of all things birthday onto her, and so far it seems to be working.

we started birthday week with a birthday breakfast. pancakes, plain eggs and cheese (meaning no veggies in the eggs), bacon, and grape juice. she mostly just ate the pancakes, but hey - it's her birthday, she can do what she wants.

we had birthday dinner, complete with balloons that say "happy birthday" on them, at chick-fil-a, since jason was closing that night. hiba also had her first ice cream sundae. i can't imagine going four years of my life and never eating an ice cream sundae. glad we fixed that.

so today, we had her party. the plan was to have it at a park, let the kids play, cook-out, nice and low-key. and then it rained all day yesterday. and then the temperature dropped from the 80s to the 60s. and the park is full of sand, which would be super fun being all cold and wet.

so, after a little bit of minor panic last night, we came up with plan b. the party was at mosaic church, which is where we have teen mops. i was so thankful they said yes - and i think it worked out great. the kids played on the playground there (which is indoor), chased balloons, played fancy-freeze-tag, ate pizza, ate cake. what more can you ask for, right?

the birthday girl, ready to party!

fun with balloons!

happy birthday, dear hiba!

after the party, hiba got to go with grammy and oscar to pick out a birthday present. after a little deliberation, she decided on a "water board" (as oscar so cleverly called it. you know, so she and matthias can go water board each other"). so we set that up and had so water fun.

happy birthday, hiba bear!
